The new mini-docu series, REAL FRUITVALE, showcases the resilience and ingenuity of artists and changemakers from the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland, California. This neighborhood has weathered many hardships and tragedies over the decades. Yet it’s also a place of innovation, collaboration, and creative problem solving. Most recently, the Fruitvale accounts for the highest rates of COVID-19 infection in Alameda County.
The REAL FRUITVALE is a true Oakland story. Produced by @theunitycouncil and @favianna1 in collaboration with Respire Creative, this project aims to amplify untold stories about one of the most diverse and fascinating communities in Oakland. The series will feature different local changemakers and leaders through November 2nd.
